Mercy Hospital Grayling Starting Stroke Support Group First meeting will be held Monday, June 17, 3 – 4:30 p.m., Crawford Room
GRAYLING, MI – Mercy Hospital Grayling is kicking off a Stroke Support Group for stroke survivors and their support persons with their first meeting this month on Monday, June 17.
The new Stroke Support Group will meet from 3 – 4:30 p.m. in the Crawford Room. The Crawford Room is located in the Education Building on the hospital’s grounds. Use the drive located between Mercy Manor and the Mercy Community Health Center building. The Education Building is the large tan building in the back of the parking lot.
The idea for a Stroke Support Group came from a patient who saw the need for this service locally. Mercy Rehabilitation Services was anxious to respond to this request and provide the opportunity for stroke survivors to share their experiences, while also providing therapists and other health care specialists who can offer support. The group will be led by an Occupational Therapist who specializes in stroke therapy.
The Stroke Support Group is open to the community and free of charge. For more information, please contact facilitator Nicole Filter, Occupational Therapist, at (989) 348-0314.
The Stroke Support Group will meet the third Monday of each month and plans to offer stroke survivors and support persons the opportunity to learn, share, and connect with one another through speakers, demonstrations, and group discussions.
