Mercy Hospital Cadillac, Mercy Hospital Grayling, Munson Healthcare and Trinity Health renew partnership agreement
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Munson Healthcare and Trinity Health are continuing their long-standing collaboration and partnership with a renewed five-year agreement effective Jan. 1, 2012. Mercy Hospital Cadillac and Mercy Hospital Grayling, both members of Trinity Health, will remain committed to partnering with Munson Healthcare to meet the needs of northern Michigan.
"We've talked a lot in the past year about the importance of partnerships. Health care reform places even greater emphasis on our need to share responsibility for keeping the population we serve healthy," said Ed Ness, president and CEO of Munson Healthcare and Munson Medical Center. "This renewed partnership agreement is great example of our commitment to working together to strengthen access and services for people in northern Michigan, no matter which hospital they use."
The renewed partnership will remain focused on providing local health care just as in the past by improving effectiveness of patient care, increasing access to physicians, and expanding outreach programs in the communities served.

Patients and the respective communities will continue to benefit from high quality health care services available close to home, including:
Local access to primary care physicians
Local testing and diagnostic services whenever possible
Local access to physician specialists in community clinics
Local rehabilitation and follow-up care
A management steering committee with representatives from Trinity Health, Munson Healthcare, Mercy Hospital Cadillac, and Mercy Hospital Grayling which will be responsible for aligning and deepening the renewed agreement. Mercy Hospital Cadillac and Mercy Hospital Grayling CEOs also will have a reporting relationship to Ness, in addition to their relationship with their counterparts in Trinity Health.

Through this agreement, Munson Healthcare is strengthening its relationship with the larger Trinity Health organization through:
Collaboration with Trinity Health on clinical and quality improvement initiatives to ensure the highest quality care for northern Michigan.
Enhancements to Munson's information technology infrastructure to maximize the use of technology to provide timely and seamless information for physicians, clinicians, and patients.
Continued efforts to reduce costs through strategic sourcing and purchasing via Northern Michigan Supply Alliance, jointly owned by Munson Healthcare and Trinity Health.
"This agreement represents the next evolution of the historically strong and beneficial relationship the hospitals, Trinity Health, and Munson Healthcare have had over the past 14 years," Ness said.
