Holistic Therapy Gets Hands On with Patient Healing
Alternative medicine is taking the medical community by storm in places like Mayo Clinic and Duke University Medical Center. Now you can learn the art of Healing Touch and the ways it can positively enhance your patients' outcomes.
Hard science and research support the gentle, soothing practice of Healing Touch, an accredited nursing intervention in which practitioners use their hands and light or near-body touch to help clear, balance, and energize the human energy system.
Developed by nurses 20 years ago, Healing Touch has established itself as a non-invasive and effective way to help with relaxation and well being, and is currently taught in 28 countries.
The Level I class teaches basic concepts and techniques, Levels II and III develop these techniques so that practitioners can advance the healing of the human energy system, said Marian Long, MSN, a board-certified Holistic RN and Director of Holistic Clinical Practice for Mercy Grayling.
"Healing Touch is a wonderful way for nurses to earn 16 continuing education hours, and it is also very worthwhile for anyone interested in learning more about energy healing from a credible source," she said. "All 18 hospitals on U.S. News's most recent 'America's Best Hospitals' selective Honor Roll provide complementary and alternative medicine of some type, including Healing Touch."
Medical studies show that Healing Touch helps ease nausea, pain, and other side effects of cancer treatment, Long said.
