Munson Kids Creek Project Needs Volunteers
Planting help needed on Saturdays beginning this month
Volunteers are needed to help Munson Medical Center's Facilities and Plant Engineering Department with the next phase of the Kids Creek restoration project.
Vice President for Facilities and Plant Engineering Steve Tongue reports the hospital has received its Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment permit that allows the hospital to enter the next phase of the project. The project aims to restore the creek to a more natural environment, as well as provide a setting for visitors and staff to enjoy the creek.
Munson has been working on the project with the Grand Traverse Conservation District and the Watershed Center Grand Traverse Bay. "A critical component of our project will be volunteer assistance for plantings," he said. "We will be setting up weekly 'planting bees' for Saturday mornings beginning this month."
Area residents willing to donate one or two Saturday mornings to help the project move forward would be greatly appreciated. Volunteers should contact Kathy Moyer at (231) 935-6011 or kmoyer@mhc.net.
