Asthma/Chronic Obstructive
Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, or COPD,
is a group of lung diseases that cause breathing problems. There
are three diseases included in the COPD group emphysema,
chronic bronchitis, and asthma. These three diseases have one
thing in common: they limit the flow of air into and out of your
lungs. As a result, a person with COPD may cough, wheeze, have
excess mucous, or feel fatigued and short of breath.
If you have been diagnosed with a lung disease,
gaining as much knowledge as you can and carefully following your
treatment plan are important steps to staying healthy, feeling
good, and doing all the things you want to do. The COPD Education
programs at Munson Healthcare can help you learn to take control
over your lung disease rather than the disease controlling your
life.
