Injury Prevention
Injuries Are Not An Accident
One of the goals of a trauma center is to reduce traumatic injuries by participating in prevention efforts.
The injury prevention staff work to identify injuries that frequently occur in the community and the risk factors associated with these injuries.
Munson Medical Center (MMC) partners with schools, community groups, and local businesses to promote preventative measures in the community.
MMC is one of the lead organizations for Safe Kids in the Grand Traverse region, and is also the host of Kohl's 4-Season Safety program.
Safe Kids North Shore
Safe Kids North Shore is dedicated to the prevention of unintentional injury in children ages 14 and under. The coalition provides unintentional injury prevention education by partnering with local organizations and agencies with the same mission. Michigan State University Extension and Munson Medical Center Trauma Services proudly lead Safe Kids North Shore. Safe Kids North Shore serves Benzie, Grand Traverse, and Leelanau Counties.
Kohl's 4-Season Safety
Kohl's 4-Season Safety program provides education for parents and children about helmet safety. The program will sponsor different events in Traverse City and surrounding communities where parents and children may be able to trade in old or broken helmets for newer, safer helmets and get information on how to prevent head injuries.
