Family & Friends
Visitors are good medicine for patients. Family members and friends
are welcome to visit. However, patient care is our primary concern
at Mercy Hospital Grayling and in order to enhance the quality
of care, visiting hours and regulations have been established.
Visiting hours or regulations are available at the Information
Desk on the main floor. We request that these guidelines are followed.
If you need additional information, please check with the nurse
on the unit.
Following are general guidelines for visitors:
- Smoking is not allowed in patient rooms or anywhere
in the hospital.
- Visitors must wear shirts and shoes.
- Visitors in semi-private rooms should be considerate
of roommate.
- People with colds, sore throats, or any contagious
diseases should not visit patients.
- Visits should be kept short and should maintain
a quiet environment and avoid unnecessary noise (two visitors
at a time).
- For privacy reasons, visitors may be asked to
leave the room during tests or treatments, or when the physician
or nurse needs to see the patient.
- Pets may visit check at nurse's station.
Liberal visiting arrangements may be made for families
of surgical patients on the day of surgery or upon request for
all patients.
Chapel
The chapel, located on the first floor north of the main lobby,
is always open to visitors of all faiths. It is an ideal place
for quiet prayer and meditation.
Waiting Areas
There are designated lounge areas for visitors on the patient
care units and on the main floor in the lobby. Waiting areas have
been designated for families of patients in the Critical Care
unit, the Emergency Department, Surgery, and Obstetrics. During
certain hours, a volunteer is on duty in the Surgery waiting room
to keep family members informed about the progress of surgery.
Condition Report
Our patients health care information will only be released to
those individuals that they have designated. We will ask for patient
authorization before releasing information to family and friends.
Patient information will not be released or discussed via telephone
except as designated by the patient. Persons calling for information
will be referred to patient or their designated spokesperson.
Gifts for Patients
Visitors will check with the nurse before bringing gifts of food
or drink to patients. Flowers and other gifts may be very restricted
in the critical care units please check with the unit regarding
any gifts for patients.
Gift Shop
The Window Shop, staffed by volunteers, is open Monday through
Friday from 9 am - 4 pm and on some weekends. The shop carries
gift items, jewelry, stuffed animals, greeting cards, candy, and
flowers. The phone number for the Gift Shop is (989)

Cafeteria
Guests are welcome in the hospital cafeteria 24 hours a day. The
vending area (located in the back of the cafeteria) is equipped
with vending machines containing sandwiches, fruit, soft drinks,
coffee, candy and other refreshments. The cafeteria serves breakfast,
7 - 8:30 am; lunch, 11 am - 1:30 pm;
and dinner, 4:30 - 6 pm.
Parking
Parking for patients and visitors is available 24-hours a day,
seven days a week. All parking at Mercy Hospital Grayling is free.
Patients and visitors are cautioned not to park in reserved or
designated areas. Please be sure to lock your car. If something
happens and you need assistance with your vehicle, please contact
the hospital operator by dialing 0 and they will arrange for help
from the Security Department.
