Paul Oliver Foundation Areas of Need
Charitable Giving
Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital (POMH) in Frankfort has served the Benzie County area since 1951. In 1986, Paul Oliver was acquired by Munson Healthcare, whose mission is to provide advanced health care services to people close to home. Paul Oliver fulfills that mission by providing 24-hour emergency care, acute care, outpatient surgery, rehabilitation services, and diagnostic services, such as CT scans. Recently, it was one of only 14 hospitals in the nation to receive a 2009 Summit Award for emergency care from Press Ganey Associates, Inc. The Summit Award was presented for ranking in the top 5 percent in the nation for patient satisfaction for 12 consecutive quarters. With your help, Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital will be able to continue to provide the best health care possible to the people of Benzie County.
For Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital to remain financially strong and your hospital of choice, we must be prepared to enhance and upgrade equipment and technology to sustain state-of-the-art patient care. The following projects have been identified as charitable giving priorities for the next two years:
Mobile MRI Docking Unit
Currently, patients must drive 80 miles roundtrip to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, often at odd hours in the middle of the night and during inclement weather. The plan is to install a Mobile MRI Docking Unit at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital; which will bring a vitally important medical service directly to the Benzie County community. It is estimated that 350 patients, both year round and summer residents, will be served during the first full year of its operation.
CT Scanner Upgrade
Paul Oliver's current “4-slice” CT scanner is in need of an upgrade. At the time of its purchase in June, 2004, “4-slice” was the standard of care. Since then, the standard of care has evolved into the “16-slice,” which increases the number of diagnostic procedures that can be performed and create images with greater detail at faster speeds. The purchase of a “16-slice” scanner will advance the standard of patient care and help POMH continue to deliver quality care to the community. Paul Oliver currently serves more than 1,000 patients through CT scans annually.
