Neonatology Elective
PHD 604

Prerequisite: Fourth year medical students who have successfully completed their basic Pediatric clerkship. Availability is limited.

Objectives:
  • Be able to recognize the needs of normal premature infants.
  • Become familiar with the management of problems associated with high-risk and sick newborns.
  • Know the basic resuscitation skills used in the delivery room.

This clerkship offers students the opportunity for exposure to neonatal techniques and care patterns for the sick neonate. Students are assigned to work with a neonatologist in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Munson Medical Center.
