Annual Events Supply Fun
and Funds For Munson Services
The 16th
Annual Munson Ball a wonderful evening of enjoyment
will be held on February 5 at the Grand Traverse Resort
and Spa. A night of Asian Elegance is planned.
The Munson Ball is one of the major fundraising events for the
Munson Healthcare Regional Foundation. Last year more than $66,000
was raised to benefit emergency services. This year's proceeds
will be directed to the ER Campaign.
Women's Cancer Fund
Other events this fall benefited Munson's Women's Cancer Fund,
which assists cancer patients with expenses as they proceed with
treatment. More than 250 people participated in the 10th Annual
Remembrance Run on Oct. 2 at the Grand Traverse County Civic Center.
The popular event raised $6,000 for the fund.
The Women's Cancer Fund also received a boost from
a special handbag sale at Kay's on East Front Street. Twenty percent
of the funds raised during a two-week sale of stylish Vera Bradley
Designs handbags, luggage, and other items were directed to the
fund. Vera Bradley Designs creates a special pattern each fall
to help raise funds to fight breast cancer. This year, the local
sale generated $700 for the fund.
Events continue year-round. On tap for Spring is
"From Women's Hands," a premier art exhibit and sale
to raise awareness about the arts, women artists, and the Women's
Cancer Fund. Last year's show and raffle proceeds totaled $13,200.
Munson Hospice House
For the fourth consecutive year, Munson Hospice House benefited
from the "Embrace the Vision" dinner at the Leelanau
Country Inn. Owners John and Linda Sisson and their staff hosted
a highly-successful dinner and raised $20,000 for the Hospice
House. A special thanks to Williams Chevrolet for sponsoring this
event.
"One of the extraordinary things about
our community is the enthusiastic and unique ways people find
to help each other," said Ruth Bloomer, Munson Healthcare
Regional Foundation manager. "We are very appreciative of
these efforts."
